This course is designed for drilling operations team members and provides a foundational understanding of the principles and practices involved in maintaining well control during drilling operations.
IWCF Drilling Well Control - Introductory Course
The IWCF Level 2 Drilling Well Control course provides participants with a foundational understanding of the fundamental principles of well control in drilling operations. It is ideal for personnel involved in drilling activities who are new to well control or seeking to build basic knowledge before advancing to higher certification levels.
The course is delivered through interactive lectures supported by videos, animations, group discussions, and practical exercises to enhance engagement and retention. On the final day, candidates complete an IWCF-written assessment to evaluate their understanding.
IWCF well control training is structured across Levels 2 to 4. These levels are designed to be sequential, and first-time candidates are strongly encouraged to complete Level 2 before progressing to Level 3 (Operational) or Level 4 (Supervisory) certification.
Certification Options and Assessment
Candidates may choose between Surface BOP or Combined Surface and Subsea BOP certification, depending on their operational requirements. The assessment consists of two written exams:
- Principles & Procedures
- Equipment
To successfully pass, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in each exam.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an IWCF Level 2 certificate, which is valid for 5 years.
